Summary
A simple theory of short-term climate variations is described. The theory demonstrates the influence of land surface processes in modulating coupled oscillations of atmospheric and surface temperatures and of atmospheric temperature and cloudiness. The fundamental period of the former oscillations is shown to be about five months, whereas the latter oscillation has a period of about one-half month.
