Summary

Hydrophobic proteins such as serum lipoproteins and membrane proteins were separated by high-performance capillary isotachophoresis (HPC-ITP). Reproducible separation results were obtained through the use of Teflon capillaries and appropriate separation buffers. The method shown here can be used for the analysis of lipoproteins for diagnosing lipoprotein defects. Other uses of the method are discussed, e.g., optimization of separations and scaling up towards preparative isotachophoresis.
