Summary

The paper illustrates the two possibilities of physicochemical measurements: prediction of separation on the basis of the study of intermolecular interactions between a sample component and the adsorbents, and investigation of the structure of molecules, based on gas chromatographic measurements. A new name, chromatoscopy, is suggested for the latter technique. Based on recent studies, examples are given for the new method.
