Summary
The retention volumes for small (zero) sample size,V R1, and differential molar changes of internal energy,
for adsorption of several inorganic and hydrocarbon gases were determined on six specific and weakly specific organic porous polymers. On all the porous polymers investigated nitrogen is retained more weakly than oxygen, and argon as also occurs in dissolution in squalane, while on non-specific inorganic adsorbents with a rigid skeleton (graphitized thermal carbon black and microporous carbons) as well as on specific adsorbents (alumina, zeolite and BaCl2) nitrogen is retained more strongly than argon. Again, while oxygen is retained more strongly than argon on the above inorganic adsorbents, it is retained less than argon on porous organic polymers. In the case of weakly specific and specific porous organic polymers
values for the series of gases whose molecules belong to A and B groups (according to their tendency to non-specific and specific intermolecular interaction) increase in approximately linear fashion with increasing molecular polarizability but for D group molecules we found deviations.
