Summary

Parallel studies on split-sampling and PTV-sampling procedures have been made to highlight the difficulties in quantitative analysis for capillary columns.

Parameters such as total sample amount, carrier gas and packing material used for the injector glass insert were studied.

The results clearly demonstrate the importance of optimizing all experimental parameters which give rise to discrimination effects during injection.
