Summary
The capacity factors of substituted benzene derivatives on bonded phases of various chain lengths in the reversed-phase mode have been measured and correlation of retention data between four stationary phases has been investigated by linear regression analysis. As a result, a difference in the retention mechanism between phases of shorter chain length and octadecylsilica was observed. In addition, it is also apparent that the multicombination treatment between retention data and descriptors such as π, HA, HD and σ promises the possibility of predicting the retention of substituted benzene derivatives on various reversed-phase stationary phases.
