Summary

Graphitized thermal carbon black (GTCB) modified with sodium salts of sulphonated cobalt phthalocyanine was used as a specific adsorbent in the gas chromatography of the products of the catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons. With a quantity of modifier sufficient to form a dense monomolecular layer on the GTCB surface, the selectivity for the separation of saturated, unsaturated, cyclic and aromatic hydrocarbons is higher than that of the initial GTCB. From an analysis of the products of the catalytic hydrogenation of cyclopentadiene and n-heptane platforming it has been shown that the usual columns packed with these adsorbents are comparable to the highly efficient capillary columns coated with squalane.
