Determination of hold-up time

  • R. Kaiser

  • - The simplest method of determining the hold-up time is to measure the gross retention time of the air peak. This value, howover, if often much larger than the real hold-up time.

  • - The gross retention time of helium corresponds exactly to the hold-up time (independent of carrier gas used) due to the laws of vacanto chromatography. If the tms (helium) can be measured, this procedure should be used to determine tms(He)=tm.
