Summary
This paper illustrates some advantages of the microprocessor over analog control equipment in the area of temperature control. A simple system using a digital thermometer, a microcomputer and a triac-modulator permits the achievement of very stable temperatures in a simple oven (short and long term fluctuations equal to the thermometer resolution) and a very fast change in set points. Several ovens can be controlled by the same microcomputer.
