Summary

The technique of column-switching in HPLC is described as a useful tool for clean-up procedures in organic trace analysis within complex matrices. The principles of “heart-cutting” and “back-flushing” are mainly discussed. It is shown that column-switching has much to offer in organic trace analysis.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird der Einsatz von Säulenschaltungen bei der Vortrennung und “quasi”-Anreicherung von Komponenten in Matrices mit einer Vielzahl von Inhaltsstoffen beschrieben. Hierbei wird besonders auf den Schaltungsaufbau für das sogenannte „Heart-cut” und „Back-flush” eingegangen. Die Vorteile, die eine Anwendung dieser Technik bringen kann, werden aufgezeigt.
