Summary
A simple coating method for production of support coated open tubular glass columns is dealt with. The S.C.O.T. glass capillary shows all the advantages known in addition to the very simple procedure of making and controlling the procedure. Natural biological materials like fine starch powder from maize, rice or sporules, pollen etc., or inorganic powder like Al2O3, SiO2, SiO2·nH2O, Celite (particle diameter 10−3 mm±5·10−4 mm) shows after thorough deactivation, if necessary with additional liquid phases, new possibilities in the analysis of gases (high speed, high resolution) poorly stable organic substances, high polar compounds, specific volatile biochemical substances, in low temperature programmed analysis.
The glass capillaries have not to be preconditioned as polar liquid phases like polyethyleneglycol shows a stable film with the help of fine particles like maize powder [14].
