Properties of devices for setting or regulating gas flow, including a new flow regulator

Summary

With the help of the gas dynamic equations, the properties of four methods used for keeping gas rates constant are derived. Only the flow regulator with a pre-switched pressure regulator and an adiabatically operating aperture with measurable and settable prepressure satisfy the highest requirements of flow constancy. This is the only method that can be calibrated and which allows the connected systems to be observed for leaks.
