Summary

Climatological estimates for the values of static stability parameter are presented for the different pressure layers in the African atmosphere during the months of January, April, July and October. These values show very small variations on isobaric layers. In the vertical, the static stability values change rather rapidly so that the values for the 850–700 mb layer are, in all the four months, about three orders of magnitude less than those for the 50-30 mb layer.
