Summary
The author examines the possibility of representing observed correlation functions of wind variations in analytical form by means of a special three parameter function. As the adjoint spectral density functions (for the longitudinal and lateral component of velocity as well as for the isotropic three-dimensional motion) cannot be negative one can state restrictions for two parameters by means of a so called field-diagram having determined one of the parameters. About 150 observed correlation functions have been entered into the field-diagram. It shows up that in stable stratification in most cases the period of measurements is not sufficient to allow a description of the observed correlation function by the above-cited function.
