Summary
Nineteen stations in the Greenland area and one station in the Central Arctic were investigated with respect to the 24 hour pressure changes at the surface and aloft (700 and 500 mb levels)-simultaneous changes and with lag of 24 hours. The results showed that there is reason to assume that “steering” is possibly more initiated in the lower levels of the troposphere in this area. The complexity of this problem is briefly discussed as well as the quite common misinterpretation of Ficker's “primary” and “secondary” waves.
