Summary

Various methods are outlined for the analysis of mesoscale flow patterns and these are illustrated by application to the Adelaide (South Australia) urban area. They illustrate locally induced variations within the flow and also the seasonal transference of energy from synoptic sources in winter to the diurnal land-sea breeze system in the summer.
