Motility after colomyotomy and resection of the colon for diverticular disease

Summary

The effects of sigmoid colon myotomy on manometric pressure in the colon are discussed. Findings are presented postoperatively and at the end of 1 year or more. Comparisons are made with the operation of resection. The pressures in the sigmoid area vary, with the pathologic state of the colon being higher when muscle thickness is present and lower when there is fibrosis.
