Summary
A number of works have already appeared in American and German literature with digital solutions of the most difficult part of the root-locus method, the construction of the root-locus. In this report is to be found the mathematical formulation and the programme order, which has the purpose, with logical certainty to accept and automatically trace root-loci in all their branches however complicated the result. The calculation of the root-locus branches is not solved here with the help of a polynomial zero position programme, as various authors have done [9], [12], but makes use of the approximation of the root-locus.
The solution of the main difficulties with break away points, as with several break away points one after another of any order of magnitude and smallK-variation in their proximity, is stated. Finally the programme enables an extension for the calculation of any phase and orthogonal gain loci, which is possible without difficulty as a result of the chosen mathematical formulation. The method scaling the drawing for definite value ofK at 0° and 180° is explained. The work is concluded with six examples which were made with the calculating and tracing machines.
