Summary and Conclusion

I have attempted to present the broad impact of nutrition in the surgical field, which at times is faced with problems requiring instant solution, as an immediate threat to life, and at times demanding long-term planning lest the patient be lost by default. The surgeon has a right to be proud of those contributions he himself has made. But as we all know, a very great part of the safety and efficiency of modern surgery must be attributed to the advances in nonoperative fields, and of these, nutrition is among the most stimulating and important.
