Summary
The results of bromsulfalein retention tests in 75 patients at the height of acute hepatitis and 26 patients with extrahepatic obstructive jaundice show a significantly higher level of retention in the patients with acute infectious hepatitis, with good differentiation between the two groups. It is our opinion that the bromsulfalein retention test is a worthwhile determination in these groups of jaundiced patients. The test caused untoward reactions in none of the patients.
