Conclusions
“Postcholecystectomy syndrome” is a loosely-used, nonspecific clinical term that refers broadly to a variety of symptoms of different causes that may appear in patients who have undergone cholecystectomy.
Proper evaluation of this syndrome requires diligent assessment of the symptoms and painstaking investigation for possible causes. In some cases, the true situation may not become evident until surgical exploration is carried out, and occasionally not even then.
