Summary

25 hour mean water levels from four positions in the Menai Straits have been compared with mean atmospheric pressure and wind components. A particularly close inverse relationship has been found between mean water level and atmospheric pressure 12 hours earlier.

25 mittlere Wasserstände von vier Stellen in der Meerenge von Menai sind mit mittlerem atmosphärischem Druck und Windkomponenten verglichen worden. Eine besonders enge umgekehrte Beziehung ist zwischen mittlerem Wasserstand und atmosphärischem Druck 12 Stunden vorher festgestellt worden.

Résumé

Les niveaux moyens de l'eau pour 25 heures en quatre points du détroit de Menai, ont été comparés aux valeurs caractéristiques moyennes de la pression atmosphérique et du vent. On a trouvé une relation inverse particulièrement étroite entre le niveau moyen de l'eau et la pression atmosphérique observée 12 heures plus tôt.
