Zusammenfassung

Wanzen einer noch unbeschriebenen Art der GattungColpura (Trichocolpura) (Colpurinae) saßen in größerer Anzahl saugend an einem Stumpf eines malaiischen Laubbaumes. Sie wurden ständig von Arbeiterinnen der AmeiseMeranoplus mucronatus (Myrmicinae) umlagert. Die Ameisen befühlerten und beleckten sie, wobei sie Tropfen von der Abdomenspitze der Wanzen abnahmen. Vermutlich enthält diese Flüssigkheit Zucker, der aus dem Phloem des Baumes stammt.

Summary

Bugs of aColpura (Trichocolpura) species (Colpurinae) undescribed as yet were sitting in groups on the trunk of a Malayan deciduous tree, sucking plant juices. They were permanently surrounded by workers ofMeranoplus mucronatus (Myrmicinae) which stroked them with their antennae and licked them taking droplets from the bugs' abdominal tips. The fluid is supposed to contain sugar originating from the phloem of the tree.
