Software economy in a rapidly changing hardware environment

The recent dramatic advances in microcomputer hardware capability have created a problem for software developers and users. In the past, software programs could be transported to newer machines only with great difficulty and at substantial cost in time and money. This paper describes the use of the p-System operating system environment to achieve universal transportability of microcomputer applications.
