Summary

Between 1st January, 1976 and 27th February, 1981, 55 women with proven tuberculosis of the genital tract were treated with a combination of rifampicin, ethambutol and isoniazid. Of the 40 patients who received this drug programme as the first line of treatment, the tuberculous infection was still present at the end of the course in one but was found to be clear after a second course; one patient defaulted before the end of the course; in 36 the condition was cured after treatment and in 2 treatment is still in progress. There were 15 further patients who received a modified regimen of the same three drugs as a cover for pelvic surgery.
