Editor's Introduction This issue'sDebating Point (by Kevin Speight) was sent to various commentators around the globe, and provoked considerable interest. Of the responses received two (by coincidence both from Australia) have been selected for publication. They are different in style, but both augment Speight's initial stance. Brendan Nelson, President of the Australian Medical Association, offers a stirring personal response to Speight's challenge to medical educators, and David Plurnmer concludes the debate with a background analysis of homophobia and health policy.
