Additional information

This article, by Leontiev, and the following one by Morgun, both specialists from the USSR, are not directly solicited reactions to the article by Georgi Lozanov entitled ‘Accelerated learning and individual potential’ published inProspects, Vol. IX, No. 4, 1979, pp. 414–25. The reader will nevertheless be able to see that although intensive learning of foreign languages enjoys widespread practice in the USSR (see the article by Mira Vaisburd,Prospects, Vol. X, No. 3, 1980, pp. 313–17), specialists are sceptical or even reject the underlying theories propounded by Dr Lozanov. There is obviously room for an interesting comparison of approaches.
