Abstract
Unusually low hemoglobin levels were found in a healthy population of Tibetan speaking people residing at 3800 m along the Nepal-Tibet frontier in northwest Nepal. Peoples native to the Tibetan plateau may have evolved novel adaptive strategies to hypoxic stress.
