Summary

The effect of seed treatment with triadimenol at 0.175 and 0.3, imazalil at 0.15 and 0.2, and nuarimol at 0.1 and 0.15 g a.i./kg seed on subcrown internode (SCI) length, occurrence of coleoptile-node-tillers (CNTs), and common root rot severity was studied in two spring wheat cultivars at three locations in Saskatchewan. All three fungicides showed similar effects on both Cypress and Neepawa cultivars. All fungicides significantly reduced severity of common root rot and SCI length, promoted the early development of CNTs and increased (P<0.01) the proportion of CNTs that produced fertile heads of grain.
