Summary

It is shown with the electron microscope that in the cytoplasm of different animal types globular particles occur. The organ-forming polarplasm ofTubifex contains particles of 30–100 mµ diameter. From this population seem to develop two different populations of particles, one in the somatoblast 2d with small globules and the other one in the somatoblast 4d, which contains also rather large bodies (600 × 300 mµ). The plasmalemma ofAmoeba proteus seems to be a film, mainly formed by small globular particles, whereas in the ectoplasm a three-dimensional network occurs, containing chains of larger globules.
