Zusammenfassung

Die Verbindung (I) wurde über die Zwischenstufen (II)-(V) synthetisch aufgebaut. Die Oxydation von (I) mit Mercuriacetat liefertedl-Rubremetiniumbromid, dessen Absorptionsspektrum mit demjenigen vond-Rubremetriniumbromid, dargestellt aus Emetin, identisch ist. Die heute als richtig angenommene Strukturformel von Emetin wird dadurch bestätigt.
