Zusammenfassung

Das Biphenyl wurde mit Hilfe der Methode der «Molecular orbitals» studiert. Die Ergebnisse stimmen mit der praktischen Erfahrung überein; es scheint aber, daß auch sterische Wirkungen mitspielen. Es muß bestritten werden, daß diep-Stellung die elektronisch wirksamere ist.
