Zum Koagulationsverlauf von Blut und Plasma

The rate of coagulation of whole blood or recalcified plasma is investigated by a photoelectric method. In the case of oxalated plasma, the speed curve shows 4 characteristic phases, for citrated plasma only 3. The determination of coagulation time by visual observation agrees very well with the beginning of the third phase of the citrated plasma, not so well with that of the oxalated plasma. The rate of coagulation is modified by the pathological state of the blood and by physical or chemical reactions. Cellulose solution shows a similar behaviour.
