Summary
Some toxic effects of colchicine in mice were investigated.
The DL50 of the drug is reported to produce a fatty degeneration of the liver; the same takes place, to a lower degree, in the heart muscle and kidney parenchyma.
A better survival rate of the female than male mice treated with the same doses of colchicine was observed, the ratio being 1:4.
