Summary
A method for the demonstration of lipase activityin situ was given byGomori. The author examined the specificity of the reaction, the loss of lipolytic activity during the necessary manipulations (fixation, dehydratation, etc.) and the various sources of error (diffusion, unspecific reactions, threshold value of the method). A few modifications of the original technique, e. g. the incubation of the non-deparaffined sections, were necessary for obtaining optimal results. Furthermore, a method for the quantitative estimation of lipolytic activity was developped.
