Summary
This study is based on 92 orthodontic models and 92 cephalometric tracings of 23 patients treated by the edgewise technique. Models and cephalometric tracings were obtained at different intervals: At the beginning of the treatment, at the end of the treatment, after the retention period and at final check-ups. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the relapse after orthodontic treatment. The investigation material is classified according toAngle's classification and extraction and non extr. cases. The relapse differences between the groups are investigated as well. At the end of this study, the following changes were noted: Mandibular crowding, mandibular intercanine width, overjet and overbite relapsed. —Depth of the curve ofSpee, lessened with treatment, remained unchanged. — Because of mandible's forward and upward rotation due to development, SN/MGo angle decreased after treatment. ANB-angle, which is reduced with treatment, did not relapse. The only differences in relapse between the groups were the overbite and maxillary incisor axial inclinations.
