Abstract

Characteristics of the γ-induced chain reaction between ammonium bisulphite and molecular oxygen in the presence of chromium/III/ have been studied. The effects of concentrations of dissolved oxygen, ammonium bisulphite, pH and dose rate on the rate of oxygen consumption and radiation chemical yield of oxygen consumption have been investigated and the mechanism of both processes has been discussed.
