Summary

Pancreatic exocrine secretion in dogs—either normal or induced by dicarnitine—contains high amounts of carnitine. This finding suggests that the biological action of dicarnitine might not only occur through the parasympathetic system but might also be due to a more specific action of carnitine itself.
