Summary

In a series of experimental reports it is shown that the leech's organism has the capacity to weaken pathogenic microorganisms even to complete loss of their infectiousness.

Production of vaccine in the leech, as well as a combined treatment with vaccine and own blood, are described.

Furthermore, it proved that weakening of the infectious agent can also be achieved immediately by treatment with leech bacilli or with germ-free filtrates from such cultures (Subtiligin H).
