Zusammenfassung
Es wird über die Isolierung und Typisierung von 212 Coxsackie-Virus-Stämmen in der Affennierengewebekultur berichtet. Das Einsendungsmaterial stammte von Patienten, bei denen in der Mehrzahl der Verdacht auf eine Poliomyelitis bestand.
Die in der Gewebekultur isolierten Stämme wurden auf ihre Mäusepathogenität getestet. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen waren die Stämme der Typen B 1, B 3 und B 5 sowohl in der Gewebekultur wie im Mäuseversuch pathogen, während sich die Stämme der Typen B 2 und B 4 zum großen Teil im Mäuseversuch als apathogen erwiesen. Eine Änderung der Versuchsanordnung in dem Sinne, daß geimpfte aber klinisch nicht erkrankte Tiere ebenfalls regelmäßig histologisch untersucht wurden, brachte eine Abnahme dieser Differenz. Alle Coxsackie-Virus-Typen (B 1–B 5, A 9 und A 23), die sich mit einem cytopathogenen Effekt in der Affennierengewebekultur vermehren, konnten in den Jahren 1958/59 gehäuft nachgewiesen werden. Die Poliomyelitis-Morbidität erreichte dabei 1958 in der Bundesrepublik den tiefsten Stand der letzten 10 Jahre.
Bei der Isolierung der Coxsackie-Viren von paretischen oder encephalitischen Erkrankungsfällen konnte eine Doppelinfektion mit Poliomyelitis-Virus wahrscheinlich gemacht werden.
