Ratti trattati con neopiritiamina presentano un contenuto particolarmente basso di aneurina nel tessuto nervoso (cervello) e non rispondono alla somministrazione di glucoso (per os) con aumento di Q.R. e di produzione calorica come, invece, fanno i controlli e i ratti carenzati mediante la dieta (3–4 settimane).
