Summary
Solanocapsine has for the first time been degraded to a known steroid, 3β-acetoxy-16β-hydroxy-5α-bis-22, 23-nor-cholanic lactone. According to this and further experimental evidence, solanocapsine is 3β-amino-22, 26-imino-16β, 23-epoxy-5α, 22α, 23β, 25 ξ-cholestan-23-ol.
