Summary

A method of deafening freshly hatched turkeys is described. In 28 cases the Ductus cochlearis including the Lagena was removed without any noticeable damage to equilibrium functions. All birds were raised and behaved normally in all other except auditory functions, only one poult showed a certain deviation in pecking at small grains.
