Summary

In order to improve the studies of the different phenomena occurring during the deep-freezing of living animal tissues, the authors has built a microscopic device with which it is possible to examine fragments of tissues during freezing and thawing. This apparatus gives different rates of cooling and re-warming, fast and slow, both controlled with accuracy. Temperatures as low as − 180° C are easily reached.
