Summary
The cytoplasm consists of the cortex and the endoplasm. The rather thin cortex is built up by protein-leaflets and lipoid lamellae. The endoplasm is a structure of fibrils forming a dense network. The fibrils, composed of chromidia and interchromidia must be considered as a bundel of polypeptide chains. They are about of the same size as the elementary fibrils in the tail of the spermatozoa. The chromidia show all the main properties of what has been called theoretically “biogenmolecule.” They are centers of growth and metabolism of the cytoplasm. The different functions of the various components of the plasm are considered.
