Summary

The effect of insulin on the absorption of glucose and fructose, as well as the formation of glycogen from fructose, was studied in the isolated diaphragm of the rat.

Results: 1. In the absence of insulin more glucose was taken up by the diaphragm than fructose.

2. Insulin increases the absorption of glucose and fructose as well as the synthesis of glycogen from fructose. The percentage increase of absorption of glucose and fructose remained unchanged.
