Summary
Diets with 1–2 p. ct.l-tyrosine produce characteristic symptoms in the white rat (loss of weight, conjunctivitis, transitory cloudness and vascularization of the cornea, loss of hair, cheilitis, inflammation of the toes and alkaptonuria).
Additional administration of thyroxine accelerates the development of the pathological symptoms of the eyes, while simultaneous application of thiouracil has a preventive or delaying effect on the syndrome mentioned above.
