Summary

Proteins of the human serum were divided in two fractions by salting out: one fraction containing chieflyγ-globulin, and another freed of thisγ-globulin, called the “rest-proteins”. The effect of the two fractions on leucocyte migration was investigated. The velocity of migration and the total distance covered by the leucocytes are greatly enhanced by the presence of the “γ-globulins”. “γ-globulins” also have an attracting power on leucocytes, that is to say that proteins contained in theγ-globulin-fraction have a positive chemotactic effect on leucocytes.
