Zusammenfassung

Thiouracil hemmt — wie auch andere Derivate des Thioharnstoffs — die Bildung von Melaninen. Diese Wirkung kannin vivo eindrücklich am regenerierenden Schwanzende von Axolotl demonstriert werden: Verabreicht man diesen Tieren nach Kürzung des Schwanzes Thiouracil, so wird die Pigmentierung im nachwachsenden Schwanzende unterdrückt. Die normale Pigmentierung des Schwanzendes setzt kurze Zeit nach Aufhören der Thiouracilfütterung wieder ein.
