Summary

A simple arrangement for testing the function of a non-rebreathing valve during intermittent positive pressure ventilation is described.

The correlation between the ‘valve delay’ (the period from the beginning of expiration until total closure of the inspiratory channel) and the degree of rebreathing is pointed out.
